为阿西西的弗朗西斯立传也许并不太难，他留下了赞美诗、书信、会规等等文字。最出名的一首诗叫做CanticalofBrotherSun,这部电影的片名也正是源于此，大家看诗作的头三段就知道，弗朗西斯科的意思是“日月皆我兄妹”，不知何故被翻译成了神父、修女，不可原谅的暧昧。弗朗西斯并非神父，克莱尔倒确实是受弗朗西斯影响削发为尼的修女。不过，影片随意发挥两人的关系，过于煽情，哗众取宠，严重违反史实。CanticleofBrotherSunPraisedbeYoumyLordwithallYourcreatures,especiallySirBrotherSun,WhoisthedaythroughwhomYougiveuslight.Andheisbeautifulandradiantwithgreatsplendour,OfYouMostHigh,hebearsthelikeness.PraisedbeYou,myLord,throughSisterMoonandthestars,Intheheavensyouhavemadethembright,preciousandfair.PraisedbeYou,myLord,throughBrothersWindandAir,Andfairandstormy,allweather'smoods,bywhichYoucherishallthatYouhavemade.......弗朗西斯的座右铭是圣经里面的三句“Ifyouwishtobeperfect,goandsellwhatyouownandgivethemoneytothepoor,andyouwillhavetreasureinheaven;thencome,followme"(Matthew19,21);"Takenothingforyourjourney"(Luke9,3);"Ifanyonewantstobeafollowerofmine,lethimrenouncehimselfandtakeuphiscrosseverydayandfollowme"(Luke9,23).光脚、离家、赤贫、托钵传福音；他抛弃一切，与贫穷为伴，以此亲近神。影片的音乐感染力很强，画面也颇有视觉冲击力。不太满意的是情节不够紧凑，有些细节纯属臆造。
